NEWPORT DOCKS – HILL & SMITH SITE PRE-PLANNING CONSULTATION

Exciting proposals are being advanced for the construction of additional buildings and facilities at the Hill and Smith Site, which comprises land to the west of Tom Lewis Way, Newport Docks. Currently, the southern part of the application site is already utilised for the assembly of prefabricated steel barriers and structures, but due to recent success of the business it is now necessary to consider an expansion of operations to meet industry demand. 

In keeping with the site’s current land use and the wider port landscape, the proposals entail the construction of an additional stores unit (450m² floor area) and open-fronted wash down area (242m² floor area) together with Portakabin offices (300m² floor area) and other associated development. The intention is for a planning application to be submitted to Newport City Council for consideration later this year.

In accordance with the requirements of the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (Wales) (Amendment) Order 2016 there is a requirement to undertake pre-application consultation on all planning applications for major development. We are therefore making available the contents of the intended planning application for the Prairie Site in draft for consultation and comment.
